RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens

Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Ravens: B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Ravens spent the 245th pick on R.J. Oben, a name the board had a full 137 spots lower. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Parrish falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In the Round 1 slot they get a two-high chess piece. Need was not the driver here.
Pick59
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
By-the-book stuff, Azareye'h Thomas at the 59th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91
Rnd3
Charles Grant
A straight-up fair deal on Charles Grant at pick 91, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128
Rnd4
Savion Williams
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 128 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick136
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson in No. 136 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick176
Rnd5
Jacob Parrish
You do not let a cornerback like Jacob Parrish reach slot 176 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick178
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
They robbed the room for Pat Bryant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick185
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
Circle this one: DJ Giddens at the 185th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in pick No. 205 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick213
Rnd6
Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at the 213th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick245
Rnd7
R.J. Oben
R.J. Oben in pick 245 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
