JH007 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
A-

FutureA+
The Bears won the night they stopped Fiske from sliding. Grade: A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Braden Fiske at the 112th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They are betting Estime proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, with Joe Alt leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In pick 20 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 27th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick31
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin in pick No. 31 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick39
Rnd2
Adisa Isaac
A conviction pick on Adisa Isaac at No. 39 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick44
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 2 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cooper Beebe in Round 2, Pick 19, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63
Rnd2
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at the 63rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Calen Bullock. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick75
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
A wild overpay on Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 11, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick77
Rnd3
Audric Estime
They talked themselves into Audric Estime at the 77th pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the 112th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
