Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

It is not that Williams is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.

The Bears paired the rookies with proven help, Deebo Samuel leading the way. Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
