The Steelers answered their biggest question with McCarthy. Grade: D+. Somebody took the Steelers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Whatever J.J. McCarthy becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board. They are betting Jean-Baptiste proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Mahogany at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
