Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB
A franchise passer in Penix Jr. headlines a D- weekend for the Bears. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D-.
Michael Penix Jr. is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Orhorhoro pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 2 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Michael Penix Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 40 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick51
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
They went early on Ruke Orhorhoro in slot 51, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
The board had Xavier Worthy higher than the 75th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick84
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in No. 84 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick106
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Nice patience on Brenden Rice, who had no business lasting to the 106th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122
Rnd4
Spencer Rattler
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 22 with a little surplus value in Spencer Rattler. A need, and now a little less of one.
