Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Grand theft in No. 50: the Buccaneers steal Emmanwori and grade out a B+.

When a board-topper like Nick Emmanwori slides to Round 2, Pick 18, you do not overthink it, and the Buccaneers did not.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Baron pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spending an early pick on safety with offensive lineman, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In slot 32 they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
A tidy bit of business in the 33rd overall pick, where Walter Nolen graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick43 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A slide stopped in pick 43, with Malaki Starks worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick50 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Nick Emmanwori at safety with offensive lineman, cornerback and other spots open.
Pick61 Rnd2 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at the 61st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick102 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Cam Skattebo. It fills a real need, too.
Pick121 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Savion Williams in Round 4, Pick 19 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick130 Rnd4 Tyler Baron
A wild overpay on Tyler Baron in No. 130, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
