The steal of the weekend belongs to the Saints and Smith: D+.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Saints shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. It is not that Winston Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Saints had louder needs to answer first.

They are betting Gadsden II proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Smith value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
