Draft Grade — Saints
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Saints lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Saints started one anyway for Marcus Harris, 55 picks ahead of schedule. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. With interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the 9th pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jihaad Campbell. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick71 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 7. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at the 93rd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch is a better player than pick 103 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick104 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman still to address, they spent pick 112 on Jeffrey Bassa, a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick120 Rnd4 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the 120th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
No edge and no loss on Tyler Shough in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick141 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in slot 141 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick167 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They jumped the gun on Dont'e Thornton Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick178 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
They went early on Oronde Gadsden II in the 178th pick, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick184 Rnd6 Chimere Dike
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Chimere Dike well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick188 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at Round 6, Pick 12 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Marcus Harris
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Marcus Harris. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
