FutureB-
The Saints worked the phones like thieves and earned a B. Whoever sat across the table from the Saints should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Cooper has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
JC Latham
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at the 45th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick136
Rnd4
James Williams
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 136, where James Williams graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at No. 152 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
They liked Jaylen Harrell enough to skip the value, taking him in the 176th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick192
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at slot 192 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick205
Rnd6
Zion Nelson
Zion Nelson at pick 205 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
