The board owed the Browns one, and it paid up: Will Howard, the No. 101 name on the board, sitting there at the 119th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They went 9 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The back end got a real overhaul.

They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
