FutureA+
Larceny in the 230th overall pick lands the Panthers a B+, Edwards and all. When a board-topper like Donovan Edwards slides to the 230th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Panthers did not. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The cost of the Roberts reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden in slot 15 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
No edge and no loss on Carson Schwesinger in the 70th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick77
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82
Rnd3
Charles Grant
They went early on Charles Grant in pick 82, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Fair-plus on Zy Alexander, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick140
Rnd5
Kobe King
Nice patience on Kobe King, who had no business lasting to pick No. 140. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick146
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
They paid up for Andres Borregales at No. 146 when waiting would have done the job. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick166
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
Elijah Roberts in the 166th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick221
Rnd7
Maxen Hook
Value with a capital V on Maxen Hook in pick No. 221, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick230
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
You do not let a running back like Donovan Edwards reach pick 230 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick238
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in Round 7, Pick 22 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick241
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
They took Cam Horsley at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
