Draft Grade — Panthers

FutureB-
Grand theft in Round 2, Pick 21: the Panthers steal Emmanwori and grade out a D+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Panthers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Kiser lower, and that gap is the story. Getting Emmanwori where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 8th overall pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
They took Jalon Walker at par in the 26th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick53
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in slot 53 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Tai Felton
A quiet steal in pick No. 111: Tai Felton for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
They let Tez Johnson come to them and pounced at pick 114. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick140
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
They paid a round early for Tyler Baron in No. 140, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick146
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
They jumped the gun on Andres Borregales, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
A big swing on Jack Kiser at the 163rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick235
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
They went early on Theo Wease Jr. in No. 235, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
