FutureA+
The Cowboys checked most of the boxes and earned a B+. The Patrick Payton pick is the one that will follow the Cowboys into the fall. They took him 87 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Getting McNeil-Warren where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 24th overall pick they get a three-down second-level presence. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse in the 39th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick49
Rnd2
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 17, with Emmanuel McNeil-Warren worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick112
Rnd4
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at slot 112 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick150
Rnd5
Trey Moore
A wild overpay on Trey Moore in pick 150, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at No. 177 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
