Draft Grade — Buccaneers

FutureB-
Grand theft in the 86th overall pick: the Buccaneers steal Williams and grade out a B-. Thirty-one other rooms let Antonio Williams slide, and the Buccaneers were the ones holding the card at slot 86. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If Grimes pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
LT Overton
In No. 22 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
CJ Allen
A slide stopped in slot 54, with CJ Allen worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick86
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams at pick No. 86 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
John Mateer
The board had cheaper options than John Mateer at the 122nd pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick161
Rnd5
Lee Hunter
A reasonable price with a little left over, Lee Hunter in the 161st overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200
Rnd6
Tony Grimes
A big swing on Tony Grimes at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick235
Rnd7
J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis in pick 235 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
