Good, not great, for the Steelers: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Steelers did exactly that with Joe Milton III in the 121st overall pick.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In pick 20 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson slid further than he should have, and pick No. 51 is lovely value for the linebacker. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Jaden Hicks for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick120 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at the 120th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick121 Rnd4 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in slot 121 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick197 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson in No. 197 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick238 Rnd7 Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell in No. 238 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
