Fodd DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Seahawks. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Hayden Conner in the Round 7 slot, a good 44 spots before the room expected him. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Starks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Taking Malaki Starks in No. 50 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick52
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 52 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
They let Omarr Norman-Lott come to them and pounced at pick 82. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
A reach on Jared Wilson in Round 3, Pick 28; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
They jumped the gun on O'Donnell Fortune, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick172
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid a round early for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 172, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod at Round 5, Pick 37 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick223
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hayden Conner. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They paid up for Jamon Dumas-Johnson at No. 234 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
