DBHawk DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Rogers should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B-. The board owed the Seahawks one, and it paid up: Justin Rogers, the No. 194 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 15 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Rosengarten reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In slot 16 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A real need, handled.
Pick81
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in No. 81 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at the 102nd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick118
Rnd4
Michael Pratt
Value said wait; Michael Pratt in Round 4, Pick 18 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick179
Rnd6
Tip Reiman
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tip Reiman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick192
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson in pick 192 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick235
Rnd7
Justin Rogers
They barely believed it either: Justin Rogers still on the board at the 235th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
