A franchise passer in Maye headlines a B weekend for the Vikings. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting Keegan proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 11th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jonathon Brooks
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jonathon Brooks well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick108
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
They robbed the room for Mike Sainristil here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick130
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
They will replay Tykee Smith at pick No. 130 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
They let Tommy Eichenberg come to them and pounced at slot 148. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick160
Rnd5
Isaiah Adams
You do not let an offensive lineman like Isaiah Adams reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick165
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in the 165th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick179
Rnd6
McCallan Castles
Somehow McCallan Castles was still sitting there in pick 179, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230
Rnd7
Trevor Keegan
They talked themselves into Trevor Keegan at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
