Daniels is the Patriots' new face under center. Grade: B-.

The Patriots spent real capital to be 183 picks early on Jacob Dobbs, and the board is going to hold them to it.

Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at slot 34 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at pick No. 66 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
A wild overpay on Ben Sinnott in Round 5, Pick 3, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick180 Rnd6 Hayden Hatten
They reached into another round for Hayden Hatten, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jacob Dobbs
Value said wait; Jacob Dobbs in the 223rd overall pick says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
