When a board-topper like DJ Giddens slides to pick No. 230, you do not overthink it, and the Lions did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Hamilton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
