Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a B weekend for the Raiders.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

That Fifita pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Fair-plus on Anthony Hill Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A slide stopped in the 67th pick, with Jake Slaughter worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102 Rnd4 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at slot 102 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
Good price on Chase Bisontis in the 117th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Iheanachor. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick174 Rnd5 Josh Moten
By-the-book stuff, Josh Moten at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick180 Rnd6 Charles Jagusah
A clean, defensible pick in No. 180 with a little surplus value in Charles Jagusah. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick183 Rnd6 Dane Key
Dane Key at No. 183 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 204 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd7 Noah Fifita
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Noah Fifita in Round 7, Pick 3, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
