Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers robbed the room for Worthy. Final grade: B.

Somebody in pick 94 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Xavier Worthy, the No. 55 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They are betting Vidal proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
A slide stopped in the 31st pick, with Troy Fautanu worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick63 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa is a better player than the 63rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick94 Rnd3 Xavier Worthy
Circle this one: Xavier Worthy at pick No. 94 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at slot 124 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick131 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
By-the-book stuff, Roger Rosengarten at Round 4, Pick 31 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick133 Rnd4 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at No. 133 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176 Rnd6 Tyrone Tracy Jr.
They robbed the room for Tyrone Tracy Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick211 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
A quiet steal in the Round 6 slot: Joe Milton III for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick215 Rnd6 Kimani Vidal
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kimani Vidal in the 215th overall pick, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick251 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Garret Greenfield in slot 251, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
