Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
Restrepo should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Xavier Restrepo, Round 5, Pick 11, roughly 43 picks past where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will need McLeod to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
A slide stopped in pick No. 12, with Ashton Jeanty worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick44
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
A straight-up fair deal on Benjamin Morrison at the 44th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
The board fumbled Jayden Higgins all the way to Round 3, Pick 12, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149
Rnd5
Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at slot 149 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jalen McLeod
Value said wait; Jalen McLeod in pick 171 says they were not listening. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick174
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Ty Robinson for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick204
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at No. 204 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick211
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at the 211th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick239
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone in pick 239 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247
Rnd7
Ja'Quinden Jackson
Taking Ja'Quinden Jackson in No. 247 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
