0987 DRAFTING FOR THEJets
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jets
Overall

ValueB-

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jets checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Jets shredded theirs for Brett Norfleet. He came off 49 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In the 5th overall pick they get a rangy last line of defense. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick32
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in pick 32 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick36
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald in slot 36 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
They paid a round early for Nyck Harbor in Round 2, Pick 12, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105
Rnd4
DJ McKinney
They reached into another round for DJ McKinney, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick178
Rnd5
Braylan Shelby
A wild overpay on Braylan Shelby in pick No. 178, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick192
Rnd6
Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jordan Castell
Jordan Castell in pick 202 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208
Rnd6
Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet at Round 6, Pick 30 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick237
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci at the 237th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick253
Rnd7
Kayin Lee
Kayin Lee in No. 253 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick254
Rnd7
Dasan McCullough
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dasan McCullough this early at pick No. 254. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
