Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Trey Wedig at No. 199 is 85 spots clear of where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That Taylor pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In No. 24 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at pick 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88
Rnd3
Darien Porter
The board had Darien Porter higher than Round 3, Pick 24, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jake Majors
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the 125th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick159
Rnd5
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at slot 159 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick199
Rnd6
Trey Wedig
Trey Wedig in pick No. 199 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241
Rnd7
Steven Parker
A wild overpay on Steven Parker in No. 241, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick250
Rnd7
J.J. Weaver
A big swing on J.J. Weaver at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
