Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Seahawks would have aced it. Jackson Hawes at Round 6, Pick 9 is 69 spots clear of where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The McCord value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick34 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Walter Nolen at pick No. 34. The roster fit checks out.
Pick63 Rnd2 Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65 Rnd3 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in No. 65 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick82 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Andrew Mukuba in the 82nd overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick95 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
They took Dylan Fairchild at par in pick 95, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Tez Johnson at slot 132 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
A slide stopped in the 134th pick, with Hollin Pierce worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick137 Rnd4 O'Donnell Fortune
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 36, where O'Donnell Fortune graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
Tommi Hill at No. 140 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick161 Rnd5 Hayden Conner
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Conner in the 161st overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Kyle McCord
Kyle McCord in pick 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick187 Rnd6 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at slot 187 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Pick212 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
They left a pile of value on the table to take Miles Frazier this early at the Round 6 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
The board had Carson Vinson higher than pick No. 236, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
