The 49ers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent the 236th pick on Collin Oliver, a name most had 56 spots down the list. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

The Grant pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
