FutureB-
Harmon should have been long gone. The Bengals pounced, and earned a B+. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Derrick Harmon got past him. The Bengals do not have to explain a thing at pick 51. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The Alexander pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Princely Umanmielen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Princely Umanmielen in Round 2, Pick 17. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick51
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Steal is underselling it; Derrick Harmon at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick81
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
A reach on Zy Alexander in the 81st pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick109
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
No edge and no loss on Anthony Belton in the 109th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick119
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Emery Jones Jr. at No. 119 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick133
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
They barely believed it either: Terrance Ferguson still on the board at slot 133. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick153
Rnd5
Nick Nash
They did well to land Nick Nash in pick 153, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick193
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Circle this one: Ollie Gordon II at pick No. 193 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick257
Rnd7
Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton in the 257th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
