Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Vikings answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Maason Smith had no business being available in Round 5, Pick 12, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
Fair-plus on Jayden Daniels, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Brock Bowers
A tight end of that caliber at No. 42 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick108
Rnd4
Trey Benson
They will replay Trey Benson at slot 108 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick130
Rnd4
Marist Liufau
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Marist Liufau in pick No. 130, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick148
Rnd5
Maason Smith
They robbed the room for Maason Smith here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick160
Rnd5
Justin Rogers
They paid sticker price for Justin Rogers in pick 160, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick166
Rnd5
Chau Smith-Wade
A clean, defensible pick in the 166th pick with a little surplus value in Chau Smith-Wade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick179
Rnd6
Andru Phillips
Andru Phillips at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick230
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
Somehow De'Corian Clark was still sitting there in No. 230, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
