Draft Grade — Vikings

Larceny in the 82nd overall pick lands the Vikings a C, Haulcy and all. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched A.J. Haulcy slide 33 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Igbinosun pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher still on the board.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in pick 49 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick82
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in Round 3, Pick 18 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jadarian Price in pick No. 92, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal at the 94th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick97
Rnd3
Brenen Thompson
The board had Brenen Thompson higher than the 97th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick108
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. in No. 108 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick127
Rnd4
Eli Raridon
They took Eli Raridon at par in slot 127, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick133
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
A surprising call. With edge rusher still to address, they spent the 133rd pick on Davison Igbinosun, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick138
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
Steal is underselling it; Bryce Lance at the 138th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194
Rnd6
Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan at pick 194 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick234
Rnd7
Kaden Wetjen
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 18, where Kaden Wetjen graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
Nothing to complain about; Jalon Daniels went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
