There is conviction, and then there is this. The Seahawks took Jaden Crumedy a full 31 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.

The Seahawks indulged a want in Smith while a need in linebacker stayed open. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with linebacker still staring back at them.
