Bisco DRAFTING FOR THEJets
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jets bet the future on Ward. The board says B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jets watched Nicholas Singleton slide 105 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Every board in the league had Bryant lower, and that gap is the story. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In pick No. 7 they get their guy under center for the next decade. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emeka Egbuka in the 42nd overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick96
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in the 96th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick108
Rnd4
Maxwell Hairston
A tidy bit of business in the 108th pick, where Maxwell Hairston graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick144
Rnd5
Howard Cross III
They paid a round early for Howard Cross III in slot 144, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Value said wait; Cobee Bryant in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick184
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
You do not let a tight end like Oronde Gadsden II reach pick 184 and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick205
Rnd6
Nicholas Singleton
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Nicholas Singleton in Round 6, Pick 30, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
