Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Browns a B.

Nobody had Max Iheanachor this high, and it is not close. The Browns reached 41 spots to get him at slot 39.

The Slaughter pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick 13 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. Need was not the driver here.
Pick24 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In pick No. 24 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick29 Rnd1 KC Concepcion
In the 29th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Max Iheanachor
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Max Iheanachor well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Taking Jake Slaughter in slot 70 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick107 Rnd4 Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott in No. 107 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
No drama and no debate, Kyle Louis went about where he belonged in pick 144. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick147 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
A clean, defensible pick in the 147th overall pick with a little surplus value in Beau Stephens. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
No edge and no loss on Zxavian Harris in pick No. 204; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brett Norfleet. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
