Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesC- FutureA
Good, not great, for the Browns: B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Browns walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

They are betting Bowen proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Reese.

They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 18 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick24 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
No drama and no debate, Caleb Lomu went about where he belonged in Round 1, Pick 24. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
No edge and no loss on Jake Slaughter in the 39th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick49 Rnd2 Chris Bell
They did well to land Chris Bell in No. 49, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick70 Rnd3 Blake Miller
Blake Miller at the 70th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis in pick 107 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst at slot 139 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick144 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Drew Allar. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick154 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol at pick 154 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick204 Rnd6 Peyton Bowen
The board had cheaper options than Peyton Bowen at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jerry Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Jerry Wilson at the 216th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ethan O'Connor in slot 248. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
