Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns robbed the room for McNeil-Warren. Final grade: A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Browns were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

McNeil-Warren at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The cost of the Gill-Howard reach is exactly the players who went right after him. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

They went 9 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Emmanuel Pregnon and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 7 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick57 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
They took Germie Bernard at par in pick No. 57, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick59 Rnd2 Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette in pick 59 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
They went early on Austin Siereveld in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik in slot 82 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jake Golday
They will replay Jake Golday at the 107th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick129 Rnd4 Skyler Gill-Howard
Skyler Gill-Howard at the 129th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick138 Rnd4 Blake Miller
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Miller. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick139 Rnd5 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Somehow Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was still sitting there in No. 139, and they pounced on premier safety value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick147 Rnd5 Demond Claiborne
Demond Claiborne at the 147th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Pick161 Rnd5 Terrance Carter Jr.
Terrance Carter Jr. is a better player than slot 161 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
They liked Aaron Graves enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 163. It fills a real need, too.
Pick171 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
The board had cheaper options than Bryce Boettcher at Round 5, Pick 33, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dane Key
They paid sticker price for Dane Key in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick248 Rnd7 Miller Moss
You do not let a quarterback like Miller Moss reach Round 7, Pick 32 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
