Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB+ TradesC FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys spent real capital to be 127 picks early on Shaun Dolac, and the board is going to hold them to it. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
The board had cheaper options than Alfred Collins at the 44th overall pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A straight-up fair deal on Andrew Mukuba at slot 76, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
No edge and no loss on Jeffrey Bassa in Round 4, Pick 17; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jaydon Blue
A real head-scratcher, Jaydon Blue in pick 149 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick153 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ollie Gordon II. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick174 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at the 174th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty at pick No. 204 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick211 Rnd6 Shaun Dolac
Value said wait; Shaun Dolac in No. 211 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
A wild overpay on Isaac TeSlaa in slot 217, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick239 Rnd7 Brady Cook
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brady Cook this early at Round 7, Pick 23. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick247 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at pick 247 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
