Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Cowboys: B. Nobody had Brady Cook this high, and it is not close. The Cowboys reached 109 spots to get him at slot 174. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Collins. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 12 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
A tidy little value on Jihaad Campbell in the 44th pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Steal is underselling it; Alfred Collins at No. 76 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick149
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
They paid sticker price for O'Donnell Fortune in pick 149, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
By-the-book stuff, Jaydon Blue at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174
Rnd5
Brady Cook
Brady Cook at the 174th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
They did well to land Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick No. 204, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211
Rnd6
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick239
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
A big swing on Shilo Sanders at pick 239, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick247
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Isaac TeSlaa in Round 7, Pick 31. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
