FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Cowboys: B. The rest of the league had time to spare on Phillip Webb; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 134 spots ahead at No. 204. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
On value alone, Pierce makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 12 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
They liked Alfred Collins enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 46. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick76
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Good price on Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick118
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
No edge and no loss on Kyle McCord in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
A big swing on Jaydon Blue at Round 5, Pick 11, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick171
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
Taking Hollin Pierce in the 171st pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 174 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204
Rnd6
Phillip Webb
Phillip Webb at slot 204 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick211
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaac TeSlaa this early at No. 211. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick239
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
They reached into another round for Shilo Sanders, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick242
Rnd7
Justin Walley
This one needs a full-page explanation: Justin Walley in the 242nd pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247
Rnd7
Shaun Dolac
They talked themselves into Shaun Dolac at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
