FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Giddens: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. DJ Giddens tumbling to the 49ers in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman. They are betting Turner proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They will answer for taking safety early while offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots went begging.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick46
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 46 is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick75
Rnd3
Colston Loveland
You do not let a tight end like Colston Loveland reach pick 75 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick100
Rnd3
Aeneas Peebles
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Aeneas Peebles in the Round 3 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Andrew Mukuba in the 107th pick leaves offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick137
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner in the 137th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick197
Rnd6
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at No. 197 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248
Rnd7
DJ Giddens
A top-tier running back at a bargain, DJ Giddens in slot 248, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick249
Rnd7
Duce Chestnut
They paid sticker price for Duce Chestnut in No. 249, and that is fine. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
