Quarterback settled, Daniels in the fold, and a D- for the 49ers.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the 49ers would have aced it. Anthony Gould at Round 6, Pick 40 is 51 spots clear of where he belonged. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. With offensive lineman, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Eichenberg.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, offensive lineman very much included.
