Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the 49ers.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: DeMonte Capehart, 109 picks early at the 215th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That McCaffrey pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Melton pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and tight end still on the board.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Taking Brenden Rice in pick 94 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

They took Mason McCormick at par in pick No. 98, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

A surprising call. With quarterback and tight end still to address, they spent slot 125 on Max Melton, a cornerback they were not short of.
