Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent the Round 3 slot on Luke McCaffrey, a name the board had a full 43 spots lower.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
