4D9RZ DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedA-

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B-. Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for Jaylin Noel. He came off 39 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. The Simmons steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Jonah Savaiinaea
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Tre Harris
They paid a round early for Tre Harris in the 63rd overall pick, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95
Rnd3
Josh Simmons
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josh Simmons at pick 95. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in No. 127 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick159
Rnd5
Xavier Truss
They left a pile of value on the table to take Xavier Truss this early at pick No. 159. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick191
Rnd6
Alfred Collins
They went early on Alfred Collins in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at No. 223 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
