4D9RZ DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
Larceny in pick No. 94 lands the 49ers a B-, Polk and all. Call it larceny. Ja'Lynn Polk sat on the board until No. 94, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Keegan left real value on the table behind him.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In pick No. 31 they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick63
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
They did well to land Braden Fiske in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
They robbed the room for Ja'Lynn Polk here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124
Rnd4
James Williams
No edge and no loss on James Williams in slot 124; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick131
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
They paid sticker price for Roger Rosengarten in Round 4, Pick 31, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick133
Rnd4
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at pick 133 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick176
Rnd6
Marist Liufau
Nice patience on Marist Liufau, who had no business lasting to No. 176. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick211
Rnd6
Tanner McLachlan
A tidy little value on Tanner McLachlan in the 211th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick215
Rnd6
Logan Lee
Logan Lee at pick 215 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick251
Rnd7
Kalen DeLoach
Kalen DeLoach at pick No. 251 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
