The 49ers let Gadsden II fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Oronde Gadsden II fell into slot 224.
Crenshaw-Dickson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In slot 11 they get a two-high chess piece, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Savion Williams
They reached a country mile for Savion Williams at the 75th pick, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jake Majors
They took Jake Majors at par in Round 3, Pick 36, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Milroe at the 116th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick138
Rnd4
LeQuint Allen
LeQuint Allen at No. 138 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
Andres Borregales at pick 147 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick187
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
Quietly one of the better values of the day, JJ Pegues at pick No. 187. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick224
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oronde Gadsden II in the 224th overall pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at slot 226 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick230
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zeek Biggers. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick249
Rnd7
Ben Yurosek
They paid up for Ben Yurosek at No. 249 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick252
Rnd7
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
A real head-scratcher, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick No. 252 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
