Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
The 49ers won the night they stopped Knight Jr. from sliding. Grade: D.

The 49ers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Oluwafemi Oladejo at the 101st pick regardless, 37 picks early.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. On value alone, Knight Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In the 23rd pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick44 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Luther Burden III in Round 2, Pick 12, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at slot 49 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick54 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
They took Harold Fannin Jr. at par in Round 2, Pick 22, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick101 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at slot 101 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113 Rnd4 Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in pick No. 113 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick138 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in the 147th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick148 Rnd5 Denzel Burke
The board fumbled Denzel Burke all the way to No. 148, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick198 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
They will replay Chase Lundt at the 198th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in Round 7, Pick 11 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick237 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Fair-plus on Cam Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick249 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Karene Reid at No. 249 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
