FutureA
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B+. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The 49ers never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They are betting Taylor III proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Quinn Meinerz deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick63
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
By-the-book stuff, Zak Zinter at No. 94 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick98
Rnd3
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at slot 98 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
