Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for McCaffrey: B.

Somebody in pick 211 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Luke McCaffrey, the No. 165 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at the 31st pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick79 Rnd3 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 79 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They read the board right and Khyree Jackson was the payoff at pick 94. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick123 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at Round 4, Pick 23 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Wilson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Javon Foster at the Round 4 slot is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick175 Rnd5 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at No. 175 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211 Rnd6 Luke McCaffrey
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Luke McCaffrey in slot 211, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick215 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Somehow Dwight McGlothern was still sitting there in the 215th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick232 Rnd7 Joe Milton III
They robbed the room for Joe Milton III here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
