Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureB
The 49ers let Sainristil fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Mike Sainristil tumbling to the 49ers in Round 3, Pick 31 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

It is not that Hart is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. The Crumedy reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The Diontae Johnson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick No. 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick94 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Mike Sainristil in pick 94, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick98 Rnd3 Cam Hart
A curious use of the Round 3 slot. Wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Cam Hart did not.
Pick125 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
A quiet steal in slot 125: Sataoa Laumea for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick176 Rnd6 Jalyx Hunt
A tidy little value on Jalyx Hunt in No. 176, a step better than break-even. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Pick209 Rnd6 Drake Nugent
A reasonable price with a little left over, Drake Nugent in the 209th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick214 Rnd6 Myles Cole
They liked Myles Cole enough to skip the value, taking him in the 214th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jaden Crumedy
Jaden Crumedy in the Round 6 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Pick249 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
They robbed the room for Frank Gore Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
