Draft Grade — Titans
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Titans did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Titans shredded theirs for Davin Vann. He came off 70 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Rourke at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 1st overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at pick No. 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick103 Rnd4 Will Howard
Will Howard at the 103rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick120 Rnd4 Kaimon Rucker
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kaimon Rucker well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick141 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick167 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke in Round 5, Pick 29 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick178 Rnd6 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick188 Rnd6 Davin Vann
A wild overpay on Davin Vann in Round 6, Pick 12, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
